James Hill from Bristol University and completed his surgical training in Manchester and Harvard Medical Schools. He was appointed consultant surgeon to the Manchester Royal Infirmary in 1995. He is an honorary member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland having previously served as its president. He was appointed Clinical Professor of Colorectal Surgery by the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre. His main research interests are inherited colorectal cancer, stenting for obstructing colorectal cancer, early rectal cancer and perianal abscess.
